Painter and Calligrapher Born September 7, 1958 Currently lives in Tianjin, China Mr. Chen is a man who has spent his life pursuing his passion for art. In 1981, this earned him a degree in fine arts from Tianjin Fine Arts University. Through his studies and through practice, Mr. Chen has explored a number of areas of artistic expression. One of his most accomplished areas of expertise is in Chinese calligraphy. Mr. Chen's scholastic background and his appreciation for art has helped him hone his calligraphy skills. His broad range of experience has helped him to become extremely adept at a range of styles, allowing him to express a wide range of emotions. When using the small seal script, his precise and even characters convey a sense of formality and convention. In comparison, Mr. Chen displays a vivid range of energy and emotion when painting his cursive script. His wide range of skills give a great breadth to his work, and make him a very pleasing artist to collect. Mr. Chen's work is admired both in China and overseas. He has shown his work in a number of shows in China and internationally. His experience includes: 1981: Graduated from Tianjin Fine Arts University 1983: Began working at the Tianjin Polytechnic University (former Tianjin Textile Science and Technology) 1995-97: Gave lectures in Prague Fine Arts Institute and University of Czechoslovakia 1996: Held a personal paintings exhibition in Czechoslovakia 1998: His paintings “Tengyin” and “YeQi” were published in National Artists magazine 1999 & 2000: Visited the Institute fuer Textil-und Bekleidungswesen Moncheugladbach in Germany 2000: Published Chen Jianhui: Art Work 2000 by Sanxitang Art Center ( Taiwan ) Member of China fine Arts Artist Association (Tianjin Branch) Member of Tianjin Association of Young Artist of Fine Artists Mr. Chen currently works as a professor and is the dean of the Garment Arts and Design Faculty at the Tianjin Polytechnic University in Tianjin, China.
