Authenticity
Eastern Summerhill Trading has very strict policies for sourcing its products. The company's primary objective is to find exceptionally high quality pieces of art for our customers. For this reason, we always try to confirm the veracity of our products, suppliers and artists. Our company strives to ensure that all of its products have a valid origin are made at the highest quality of standards. The company therefore makes it a top priority to avoid any products which have suspicious origins.
To ensure our products meet our authenticity criteria, we try whenever possible to deal directly with artists directly. By creating a strong partnership with our artists, we can work together to keep standards high. We also try to purchase new pieces of art, rather than work that has traveled through the secondary art market. By doing this, we can ensure the authenticity of our products, and reduce the chance of purchasing products that may have been stolen.
Value
Eastern Summerhill Trading understands that many people purchase art as a value investment. This pursuit generally leads people to purchase items from the antique or secondary market. In this market, value is created in part by the age and relative scarcity of a product. Generally, an older product will generate a higher market price.
As a company, we understand this logic. But we truly believe that age is only one factor that contributes to a good art investment. Even though most of our products are new, they still hold a great deal of value. This is due to two factors. Firstly, many our materials, techniques, motifs and products are scarce. This lack of supply increases the value of the product that is available. Secondly, demand for many of our products is quite high. Markets for many of our products are growing with some of our artists and products being sought out by collectors. These factors of low supply and high demand increase the value of the products we sell. We truly believe that these factors will ensure the long-term retained value of our products.
Preservation
One benefit of dealing with new works of art is that it allows for the preservation of threatened techniques, motifs, styles and technologies. Modernization and migration have already pulled many artists away from their traditional pursuits, leaving the traditional space occupied by artisans relatively empty. This trend will continue unless there is an economic reason for artists to return to their traditional roles.
By buying new pieces of art, Eastern Summerhill Trading believes that it will help to preserve and renew fading art traditions. By creating a market for new art, it will bring artists back to their old professions and help to bring the craft to a new generation of artists.
Fair Trade
Eastern Summerhill Trading supports trade as a vehicle to eliminating poverty. We truly believe that global trade is something that can improve the quality of life for millions of people. But in order for this to happen, the trade must be free, fair and balanced.
In our small world of Eastern Summerhill Trading, we try to practice fair trade. We run our business as if we were in partnership with our artists. They bring the products; we bring the financing, technology and marketing.
In order to make our trade fair, we share our market information with our artists. We are open about our selling price and we pay our artists a rate that is based on the final retail value of their art. We do not take advantage of the fact that our artists may not know the market value of their products. By including them in our pricing strategy, our artists learn the value of what they are making. In this way, they become true participants in their market.
